Whatever official positions were struck recently, there was certainly active campaigning for Respect/Muslims4Ken by a number of prominent executive/CWC members in the last three years, even unguarded public statements, signing of certain campaign petitions and so on. Supporting voter registration of Muslims is very laudable but in the timing of the last local elections it also coincided with a strong campaign to register voters for Ken, particularly strong in East London. I did raise this privately with people there at the time saying that people would not care for these sorts of distinctions, given the people involved. Perception would win out, the distinctions would remain technical without substance.
